Alexander, now of Savannah, recommended this restaurant at Alençon a few years back. I made a note at the time but today was the first day we were able to have lunch there. It's really a find.
There were Americans at another table and one of them said to the hostess, "We just spent eight nights in Paris and this is the best meal of the trip."

Crumbs, you have really made my day by posting this. You have also made me really wish I was in Alençon tonight. That meal remains in my mind one of the best I've ever had and I cannot wait to go back! What did you think of that dessert trolley?
It was fantastic. My husband had trouble making a choice. I opted for ice cream and they had a long list of flavors.
There are a lot of great restaurants in the Orne and the Mayenne. I've always wondered how they compare to restaurants in Paris. I was happy to hear the compliment from the other diner, but of course I don't know where he had been eating in Paris.
