Hi friends, asking for help. In May flying to Nice and planning to visit Provence region. 2 couples in our Best age (50). Our interest - good food, great wine, champagne, perfume, small charming towns, people watching and fun. Please share your recommendation and experience. Highly appreciate!
How many nights will you spend in the area? All of it in Provence, or some time in Nice or along the Riviera? Will you have a rental car?
We stay in France for 7 nights. Yes, we will rent a car. As a home town prefer to stay in 2 places. Bed/breakfast place would be fun!
Thanks for all suggestions!
Some places to visit:
Monaco
St. Paul de Venece
Cannes
Arles
Avignon
Aix
Pont du Gard- ancient Roman aqueduct that still functioned until recently.
There is a lot more, going all the way up to Lyon. Vienne is nice.
If you have 7 nights, not including travel days, I assume you will spend some days in Nice/Monaco, and then venture up to Provence (or the other way around).
We stayed 3 nights in Arles and loved it. It had excellent food, great wine, a small charming town, people watching, and fun. I'm sure you can get Champagne anywhere in France.
From Arles you can venture to St Remy, Les Baux, Avignon, Pont du Gard, Nimes.
Or you can consider Avignon as a central point, visiting all the places listed above, plus you are central to the Southern Rhone wine region.
You might consider an apartment with 2 bedrooms where you can spread out and relax.
If you are interested in its Roman Sites and archaeological museum, Arles is a good choice. We stayed in St-Remy and loved it as it gave us easy access to Arles, Pont du Garde, and the villages of the Luberon.
Thank you friends!
If we stay in Arles or Avignon as a base town, any good recommendations for hotels, apartments or bed and breakfast? Which town is more charming and better local foods?
Thank you so much for all responds.
