Just wondered if you can get into places with a discount using your teacher ID.
I've been traveling in Europe for 30 years and have never benefited from being a teacher, even with my ID. Sorry! The only discounts I ever see are for students. Maybe I just haven't gone to the right places.
It never hurts to ask, but I usually just see student discounts listed, not teacher ones.
My stepmom is a professor. a doctorate.. she gets discounts for some places, but only by contacting them ahead of time .
So , short answer is no for average teacher. .
It is very much worth asking!
When it comes to museums specifically covering history and art, I often get a concession with my university i.d. --
have done so in London, Madrid, Nimes, Granada, off the top of my head, and most recently in Avignon.
Note that you catch more flies with an id and a smile than with an id alone.
If you will be in Paris for an extended period of time, it is worth getting a Louvre membership which is 35 Euro for educators with ID and allows you to bring in a guest with you on Weds and Fri nights. When my husband and I spend a couple of months in Paris a few years ago we went to the Louvre for a couple of hours most Weds and Fri nights. It is a pleasure to be able to focus on one thing or one small collection and spend 2-3 hours there rather than a marathon day to 'get your money's worth.'
Some places will give discounts for teachers/professors and many do not. Some but not all sights have a posted price list that show which discounts may apply. If you want to be sure whether or not a discount is available, contact the museum or sight directly.
