Arrival at CDG and additional questions

We a8rrive at CDG in mid-May.
My first question is that our group is arriving at two terminals. One at Terminal 1 and the other at 2E. Could you suggest a good meeting place for us?

Second question. We are going to be taking the train from Paris St. Lazare to Bayeux. How long after we arrive (8:30am) should we allow to get the the train station?

Thanks for any help you can give.

We're doing the same trip in June. The host at the airbnb we are staying at suggested the following for traveling by train from CDG to Caen. I thought it might be helpful on your way to Bayeux.

"To travel by train. You will first take a city train called RER B from the airport to Paris / you stop at Gare du Nord (north of Paris train station) then you will take another city train called RER E at Magenta station in direction of Haussman Saint Lazare. The name of the train station for Caen is Saint Lazare. You can buy a ticket for Caen in the station. The final stop after Caen is Cherbourg so when you will look for the platform, the direction is Cherbourg."

Yeah you can take the RER B train for 10 euros a passenger
If you do that you should meet your group at the RER B stop in Terminal 1
And allow 3 hours to get to St lazare

Don't forget to "compost" (punch) your ticket in the machines on the platform, or you could risk a hefty fine.

There are 6 of us traveling so I was thinking either a Taxi or Uber would cost about the same as a RER train and be a lot simpler.

Are we allowed to go from Terminal 1 to meet the other couples in Terminal 2?

Thanks

Absolutely get a taxi !!

It will cost 60 euros for you all to take the Rer into Paris .

Taxi cost is 50 euros . Plus an extra 3 euros per person for extra two people ( 4 passengers set price to right bank is 50) . So 56 euros plus added convenience of door to door transport no hauling bags through chaotic busy stations when tired after long flight !

If you flight arrives CDG at 830 I would. I would not book tickets to Caen before 11:30 , or even 12 . This allows time for claiming luggage and getting through immigration , then finding each other and getting to train station , and if smart, purchasing some food to take on train ride !!

Yes, with six traveling, a taxi will work well if you can find one big enough for all of you and your luggage. I've gone from CDG to Gare-Saint-Lazare several times alone, and I find it much easier to take the Roissybus from CDG directly to the Opera Garnier (€11 one-way). They pick you up right outside the terminals. It is simple, with nice sights, and it is only a 9-minute walk from where the bus drops you off to the train station. I think it is much simpler than trying to navigate two different RERs before you even get to your main train. I guess it would be a bummer if it rains, but otherwise a nice way to wake up and see the city of Paris (which you totally miss in the underground). The correct question is how long should you allow from your expected arrival to get to the train station. Actual arrivals can vary quite a bit if it is an overseas flight. I am arriving CDG end of May at 7:45am. I booked a train to Caen (one stop before Bayeux) at noon. There was one at 10:00am, but that's close. And if I miss that I lose out on my fare. If my bus gets there early, I can either try to get on the 10:00 train, or simply sit in a cafe on Boulevard Haussmann and enjoy a coffee and the sights of Paris for an hour or so. Either way, enjoy your trip to Normandy. I'll be right behind you!

Tom there are always van taxis that do the airport run . You may have to wait a few minutes but the dispatcher at airport will get you a six seater .

In Paris one would have to order one however .

Thanks for all of the help. Our second group arrives at Terminal 2E at 8:15 am so I think we will take the 12;10 train to Bayeux to make sure we have time.

Still like the taxi, but how would I/do I need to make arrangements for something for 6 people? Uber says they have a van service but not sure how comfortable I am with that. I really like to take care of things ahead of time to avoid last minute confusion.

you might consider what PharmerPhil has suggested above to take the Roissybus from CDG directly to the Opera Garnier (€11 one-way). since 6 people are not going to fit in a taxi or take 2 separate taxis 3 people each.

Once you and your group gets together you just need to follow the signs to the Taxi stand. Ignore the individuals that approach you to take you to the city, they are not official taxi drivers & you will get ripped off. Just follow the signs and stand in line. When you get to the front, tell them 6 in your group. There is a bank/line of taxi's lined up along the curb. They will pull a van out of the group for you. The taxi's are a set price.
Enjoy your trip.
