Arles hotel

I have 2 options for our 2 night stay in Arles in Sept. We will have already spent time in Provence and will be dropping our rental car at the Europcar location in Arles, spending 2 night then taking train from Arles to Nice.

Hotel Belvedere

Hotel de la Muette

Both have AC, include bkft, no elevator- Muette is slightly more $$.

Belvedere would be within walking distance to car drop off and train station which is why I originally booked it.
la Muette looks like it has a lot of charm.

Anyone have experience staying at either? pros/cons?

Thanks

I stayed last May at the Hôtel Acacias, which is even closer to the train station. Actually pretty nice, has a elevator but not a lot of charm. (But I would stay there again.) I see I was booked at the Belvedere at one point but changed to the Acacias - don't remember why.

Arles is pretty small and walkable. Both the Belvedere and the Muette look to be in decent locations, if that helps. I'm sure I walked past the Belvedere a few times...

Christine,

You could also have a look at Hotel Le Calendal in Arles - http://lecalendal.com/home.html . I found it to be very comfortable and would certainly recommend it (although it's been a few years).

Thanks- both the Acacias and Calendal are fully booked for our dates

I'm leaning towards Muette just for the charm. Would getting a cab to hotel from Europcar/to train station be an issue?

I'm guessing the hotel could arrange the taxi for you on the way out if need be. Arriving, perhaps you could drop the bags at the hotel to check in then return the car and walk back if need be without bags. Looks like barely a 15 minute walk, tops. I didn't drive in Arles, though, so I'm not sure how restricted driving is to the hotels inside the town...

There are also buses - including a free bus, as I recall (didn't use it) that circles the town weekdays.
