Arles - Arles Museum

In watching an old R.S. show on TV about Provence, the Arles town museum was mentioned, with photos shown. I loved what I saw and then looked it up. It is the Museon Arlaten ("Arles Museum" in Provençal dialect of Occitan) is a museum dedicated to the ethnography of Provence. It is located in Arles, at 29, rue de la République, and it is housed in the 15th century hôtel particulier Laval-Castellane, now a monument historique. It was closed for years and is reopened.

Has anyone been there since it was redone? Is it worth missing a walking tour of Arles to go to this museum? BTW, I love ethnographic museums.

I was in the old museum 45 years ago, and I loved it. The local costumes at this museum, both men's and women's, were my best memory of Arles, and I've been to Arles many times since. It looks wonderful, expanded and even more interesting. You can consider opening hours for the museum vs hours for the walking tour. Can the walk be recreated with a guidebook or listening devices outside of museum hours?
