Are the beaches and countryside west of Bordeaux along the Atlantic worth a few days visit in September?
I assume you mean west of Bordeaux since most of France is east of it. Years ago we drove the wine route in Bordeaux and enjoyed it. We also stopped at a nice beach, but I can’t remember which one it was.
Yes, west! Thank you. Have you been to the beaches in that area?
We stayed close to Dune du Pila and enjoyed the beach there. Because the dunes are so high it’s a well known place for paragliding and the waves are high enough for surfing too. Besides Arcachon well known for it’s oysters there is not so much to do if you want do sightseeing, the Médoc, the region north of Arcachon Bay is with it's famous vinyards more interesting. Châteaux Margaux still has it’s own cooperage and think still possible to visit but only by appointment. https://www.chateau-margaux.com/en/contact
