Area around Eiffel Tower and Arch on Sunday

Hello --- we are visiting Paris in late May and Sunday seems to be the day that works best for us to visit the Eiffel Tower and the Arch based on our schedule. Has anyone been recently and encountered any issues on Sunday? My understanding is that a lot of protests are taking place in that area on weekend days. Appreciate any input. Thanks!

Gilets jaunes demonstrations occur only on Saturday and only then in select areas of the city.

Your itinerary will not be affected in the least.

Absolutely no problem Sundays. I just walked through the Eiffel Tower to Trocadero area this past Sunday and it was just crowded with families. Actually by late Saturday afternoon things were cleared up as well.

Thank you both! Glad to hear it won't be an issue.

I received a notice from the State Department that there is a 2nd stage terror alert now in France. This is regarding Isis. We are considering canceling our trip. What do you think?

What the State Department issues are "Travel Advisories." Go to the State Department website for more information. According to the website, Level 2 means "exercise increased caution." Also look at actual statistics of terrorism, accidents (vehicular and otherwise), gun violence, theft, etc. and use that information to determine how safe it is to be in France vs. staying at home and, for example, driving your car.

Kathy, please don’t cancel! If you read the first paragraph of that warning it could apply to any city in the US as well.

I’ve been in Paris for more than a week. I’ve walked and taken the Metro everywhere and everyone is going about business as usual. On Saturday (demonstration day) I walked 7-8 miles and saw no yellow vests. The only impact on my day was to spend 5 minutes checking the RATP (Metro) app for station closures. None impacted my plans for the day. The day was beautiful and sunny and by the time I was on my way home people were everywhere outside-sitting in parks, kids playing/doing pony rides/big kids playing volleyball. All totally “normal”.
