Hello,
I was wondering if I could just purchase a ticket once I land at Geneva Airport for shuttle bus service to Chamonix? Booking online requires a phone number, but I will not have a working number once there. I've also read on a few forums of people getting ripped off and being stranded by these shuttle bus companies, so it doesn't even seem worth to go through all the trouble anyway. It seems fairly odd to have to make a reservation for a bus ride, but maybe it's some weird law that is required in France? Any comments or suggestions will be welcome, I just don't want to be stranded at the airport! Thank you!
Rick's France book indicates that one reason to book ahead with www.chamexpress.com or www.chamonix-transfer.com is that they don't have booking counters at the airport. The public bus doesn't require booking ahead, but only runs a few times per day. Train schedules are not at all convenient, due to construction in the area.
