We are wanting to REschedule our canceled May 2020 trip to Normandy for NEXT May 2021. Obviously NO ONE knows how life will be going forward BUT, we are interested to know how openings are now...
EU borders are generally open now for travel among EU countries to include the UK which has a 2 week quarantine period. Many Schengen countries are opening their borders to international travelers, including those from the USA, on July 1st. Most of France has opened or will be very soon, including Parisian restaurants which opened Monday.
As of today, France has not allowed entry for those from outside the EU. This should change this summer.
I follow several of the museums in Normandy that have posted they are now open—although some with capacity limitations. The beaches themselves were never technically closed or open. They are just beaches you can walk up to. Nothing on https://www.abmc.gov/ about the status of the American cemetery, so I imagine it is open. But May 2021 is a long way off.
It depends how badly the US continues to "manage" the virus. If infections continue to rise I doubt if the borders will be open to anyone carrying a US passport or travelling from the US no matter their passport. The virus isn't under control in France (although many French people seem to think that's what the deconfinement indicates) it just means that there are less infections than spare intensive care beds.
May of next year? Eleven months from now? Most of us are watcing what is going on day by day.
You can go and plan your trip, just don't make any non-refundable reservations--yet. We still have a summer and winter to get through and no on knows if there will be a resurgance.

It is highly doubtful that U.S. travelers will be allowed into France as of July 1. We’ll know in the next few days.
The news is reporting that American's will be banned from traveling to Europe until we are able to get the virus under control in our country. Unfortunately, we are breaking records everyday for the number of infections.
Thank you to ALL for your responses! Hopefully, US citizens can travel to Europe sooner than later. Praying for a vaccine!!
I appreciate the thoughts.
