We love to wander in a new city, finding things on our own, but I keep thinking if the food walking tours are worth it (Nadia, Petits Farcis, A Taste of Nice).
We have done food tours in several European cities and enjoyed each one! Besides the amazing food we sampled, we also got walking tours that included both historical information and insight into current happenings. We have always found them both informative, entertaining and certainly we enjoyed lots of good food! One of our favorites was in Palermo, Sicily where we sampled often “interesting” street food. While I don’t have a specific recommendation for Nice, do try one, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
I was in Nice for five nights in September 2019. The first full day, I was signed up for Nadia’s Food Tour. I was surprised how much I learned and saw regarding food compared to wandering all over the same area the previous day. I was traveling solo for that part of the trip, and taking a food tour gave me the opportunity to try so many more local specialities than ordering a few dishes at a restaurant. She really went above & beyond any other food tour I had been on during other trips. She pulled in tidbits of history but kept the focus on providing the best food.
Just another example - earlier that year my husband & I had been in NYC, and we participated in a food tour. We liked the whole experience so much that we signed up for another one with the same business in a different neighborhood for the next day! I still remember details from both of those and the food tour in Nice - a sign that they are definitely worth it in my opinion.
We love food tours and have enjoyed all of them. Our favorite company is Culinary Backstreets. We even enjoyed the ones with Eating Europe, but we will never book with them again. During the pandemic we had to cancel and lost all our money for 4 people on a tour even though we were well within the cancellation period and the money back promise. We got useless vouchers instead.

Did you dispute it with your credit card company?
Yes. Because we booked it so far in advance and I got a voucher they did not cover it. I was not happy. Capital One in case you wonder.
Thanks all! After much review, I found The Best French Riviera has a few good walking/foodie tours of Nice that we may sign up for. Nadia and the others sound excellent also. Alas, Culinary Backstreets does not include Nice in its portfolio of tours.
