I'm going to download the SNCF app, but I remember reading somewhere that there is a better app that is easier to use. Does anybody know what that might be?

I agree. I just noticed that SNCF doesn't offer alerts as to when tickets in France become available. Trainline does. Thank you!

To use the SNCF app to alert you when ticket become available for a specific train:
go to your account on the app
search for the train you want
select "create an alert" if sales are not yet open.

Arrggh, yes, you're right -- I meant to say that Trainline doesn't.
