Apps?

I found that there are a lot of Smartphone Apps out there, including Rick's, that have built in guides for tours. Anyone have any recommendations for any that are particularly helpful for Paris museums, tour walks, tourist sites, etc.?

I've got one downloaded from the Louvre. I'll be using it in September. I'll be writing a trip report so I can let you know what I think when we're back.

Julie, I did not know about that one. I will download it as well and will look for your comments on it. I'll be there in early Oct!

I did download an app for the Paris Metro but it does not have tours on it.

Following up on Julie's tip, more and more museums have their own app. Quality (both content and technical) varies a lot, but they're always free, so you can you always try them then delete them if they're not helpful.

I have downloaded the ones I need from the Rick Steves App but are there more that you can purchase? For smaller towns like Colmar? Mont St. Michel? etc.....looking for walking tours in particular. I am hoping for a Montmartre tour, directions for tours in Notre Dame, D-Day Beaches, etc......anywhere else you can recommend if Rick does not offer these?

Check the tourism websites for these places; some of them have downloadable audio tours.

I'm just getting Ulmon CityMaps2Go set up for our trip. Before your trip while connected to internet, download the map for the city or cities you will be visiting (for me, Paris). While online, you can create a list for your trip and save different "stops" so you can route your way while offline. I'm hoping it works well!

I've also downloaded DayOne for travel journal writing. I currently use it on my iPhone but you can also use it on an iPad or Mac computer. All entries are synced together throughout devices. I'm enjoying the app so far and am looking forward to using it on our trip. I always start with a paper journal for a few days but I get tired and my writing tapers off.
