It seems to me that using Apple Wallet on the Apple Watch would avoid the need to carry physical credit and debit cards. Does anyone have experience with this?
I would still carry my cards with me - 99% of the time I just tap my device, but very occasionally it doesn't work, but tapping the physical card does. Think of the physical card as a backup.
Used the tap feature on my Apple Watch last December in London every time we used the tube……so so so easy as my hubby had to stop and fish around for his card and pull it out……love this Apple Watch feature…..quick and easy
I concur with Simon. On a recent trip to Ireland and Scotland, the watch worked most of the time, but a few times I needed a card. Even here at home, there are still plenty of places that don't accept Apple Pay. I also carry a debit/ATM card abroad solely to get some local cash -- not a lot, but sometimes it's needed.
I agree with Simon. I use my Apple Watch a lot, but I always have at least two or three physical credit or debit cards just in case, because you never know. It's not like they take up a lot of space. 😊
For what it's worth, I once went to visit my daughter and her family for two weeks and accidentally left my wallet at home with all my cards in it. Luckily, I had my Apple Watch and Phone with me, so I was able to use those, but there was one time where it wouldn't work at the store. They were having some kind of problem, and since I didn't have a physical card, I had to cancel the purchase. But it's for reasons like that that I always bring at least a couple of cards with me

That is definitely true. I can think of several off the top of my head, like Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Fleet Farm, Menards, Home Depot, and many more. That just drives me crazy.
I use my Apple Watch probably about 90% of the time. There are still some places where I need a physical card. Occasionally, I run into a place that has an older card reader that does not support contactless. Also, there can be limits on contactless payments. If you are paying a large bill (e.g., hotel), you may need a physical card.
I always have a card or two on me but the majority of the time I use my Apple Watch to pay. I only use a physical card if there is no tap to pay. I like not having to remove my card from my purse.
I use apple pay on my phone 95% of the time. The card is fairly well buried in my cross body phone carrier with small purse attached.
We've used our Apple Watches on our last three trips to Europe and it has worked every single time.
For public transport it is by far the safest and best option in my opinion, because you don't need to get your cards or phone out.
Having said that, I am always careful. We travel with two, sometimes three, fee free credit cards, so my husband carries one, I carry the other, and the third stays in the safe. We've never needed the cards but there are there just in case.
I just got back from France and Italy. I used my Apple watch pretty much the whole time. i used it on public transport, shops and restaurants. I have my passport and CCs tucked away in my money belt.
