My husband and I are traveling to France in late April. We are flying in from Dublin to Lyon and plan to stay in Beaune for about 4-5 days. My husband has difficulty walking so we’d like to stay inside Beaune proper and would love suggestions on where to stay. We’ve looked and don’t need the ritziest of hotels, but prefer clean, charming with easy access and close to cafes. Any suggestions on your favorites? Thank you in advance for the advice!

We were in Beaune in April and walked right past Le Cep in downtown Beaune. It is in the center of all of the activity and looks to be a charming hotel…we were scheduled to stay there a few years ago and had to cancel. Give it a try and take a mustard factory tour!

I stayed a block from the Hôtel-Dieu Museum, the location was perfect, I would stay around there. I think 4-5 days in Beaune is too many days unless you have several day trips planned.

We stayed at Le Cep years ago and were very happy with it. Lots of atmosphere, great location, welcoming staff. One afternoon we went down to the pretty little interior courtyard for a glass of wine and the friendly server who treated my French with more respect than it deserved comped us cheese and crackers. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat.
We were in Beaune for i believe six days. In addition to poking around the town, we did several trips to places like Vezelay, Chateauneuf en Auxois, Autun, Tournus, Semur, Flavigny, and Noyers-sur-Serein and drove through some of the glorious vineyards north of town. We also visited the chateau de Sully. We had a ball.
One other possibility: divide your time between Beaune and, say, Chablis. That opens up places like Auxerre and the chateau of Tanlay and would put you closer to some of the places I named, like Noyers. Of course, the drives are so gorgeous you might not mind them. So many beautiful places to see.
