Apartment rentals near the Four Seasons George V

Plan to be in Paris early to mid September and looking for an apartment near the George V where my friends will be. Any suggestions? Know there is a new law in apartment rentals, so don't want to rent something to find out I have nothing when I get there. Is AirBnB still safe to use? Anybody know of anything? I know its a pricey district but I am looking for around $250 a night and under.

Hi JR. I haven't heard of any issues with rentals in Paris. I know there was some conversation a while back about not allowing people to rent for less than a month or owners would be fined, etc. but haven't heard that it is being enforced or policed. I use VRBO when I travel and there should be options for you to check out there based on your required location. I have not rented in that area so I can't give you anything specific to check out.

It is illegal to rent a place for less than a year lease and they are enforcing it by fining landlords which can mean apartments become unavailable. There are a handful of legal apartments and AirBNBs are okay if they are actually someone's home rented out a limited amount of time each year; those of course are the least desirable from the renter's point of view. The new registration laws go into effect in September after which noone can advertise an apartment on line for rent without a registration number. I would think the problem with this location in addition to cost is that buildings in this poncy part of town are not likely to allow people to run private hotels. One of the main ways enforcement happens is that other tenants report the illegal rentals to the enforcement at the Maire.

You can check booking.com for your dates and filter by apartments, then see if there's anything near the George V. It's possible but not likely that you can find something legal for under $250, but it doesn't hurt to check.
