Apartment rental in Paris family of 4

Hello! Our family will be visiting Paris for one week in early June and would like to stay in an apartment in the 6th arr. We’ve used Paris for Rent 10 years ago with good success but their inventory seems limited. My boys are ages 8 and 16. Thanks for any recommendations or suggestions!

In the past 10 years Paris has gotten very strict about apartment rentals and so therefore inventory is lower. Each legal listing on any platform will have a 13 digit number. When booking accommodations for 4 in 2019 we booked 2 adjoining hotel rooms but I understand the desire for an apartment with kitchen, space, possible washer, etc.

While not an apartment in the traditional sense, the Hotel Residence des Artes my work for you. We stayed there in Nov. 2019 with our two teens. It’s a small, charming boutique hotel in a perfect location. Each floor only has two rooms. An “Apartment” is made up of those two separate rooms:

A “regular” double room with a double bed (two twins pushed together), desk & chair, side chair, closet, bathroom with shower (no tub) with good size sink (plenty of space for toiletries) and mini fridge. Room is a really good size for Paris (170 sq ft).

A Jr. Suite made up of a sitting area with mini kitchen (two burner stove top, mini fridge, microwave). Huge bathroom with separate tub and shower, tons of vanity space. Sitting area has a sofa bed, desk & chair, tv, window that opens. The sleeping area is separated from the sitting area by a curtain. There is a huge king bed, desk & chair, 2 nightstands, tv, huge closet, and another window that opens. It is palatial in size by Paris standards (430 sq ft).

There is a restaurant downstairs, and breakfast is offered at their sister hotel across the street. There are tons of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. The metro and RER are a block away.

The only thing missing is a washer/dryer.

Let’s rephrase something posted above. Listings will have a 13 digit code. Unfortunately it does not appear that there’s any way to tell if this is legitimate 13 digit code, or if I just made up
13 digits which makes renting in Paris a little risky

Carol is correct. The 13 digit registration number, beginning with 75 for rentals in Paris, guarantees nothing. It’s better than no registration number, but unfortunately, visitors have no way to verify the authenticity of these numbers. They are only used by city inspectors who confirm their authenticity and fine violators, up to 50,000€ for infractions.

In my opinion, this was a major flaw in the government’s crackdown on illegal apartments. Allowing visitors to make their own cross-reference between published registration numbers and those recognized by the government as legitimate, would have gone a long way to automatically reduce demand for illegal apartments and reduce the risks associated with dealing with the unscrupulous.

You don't say what your budget is but you may want to take a look at Haven in Paris. It's an agency and relatively pricey but some of their listings such as this one (note the tiny fridge) https://havenin.com/rental/luxembourgskyviews have registration numbers. I like Haven In Paris apartments because they usually have air conditioning. Of course that is one thing that factors into their prices. Some apartments have ridiculous cleaning fees, IMO, so watch for that. My former employer always used Haven in Paris and was very pleased with them, as were the employees who were housed in their apartments for assignments in Paris. I know a family that stayed at Le Prince Regent in a two bedroom apartment and they loved it. You can also look at other apart'hotels like Citadines Saint Germain and La Maison Saint Germain and they do not need to have registration numbers in their listings.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We were actually looking at Haven In. It’s helpful to know they are a reputable company and others have had a good experience with renting from them.

A few weeks ago I stayed 4 days at this Airbnb

163 Rue Saint-Denis, 75002 Paris, France

Small apartment but can sleep 4 people and great Paris location. Right next to the Forum des Halles. Rue Montorgueil et Rambuteau. Métro at 2 minutes.
I would stay there again.
Gilian the owner has 2 studios there and he lives above.

I second Guest Apartment Services. I did not suggest them because they have very few listings in Saint Germain but they are a very good agency in terms of the service offered and the quality of apartments. If it matters like Haven in Paris some (not all) of their listings have a 13-digit identification number. Here is one from GAS that I have been in: https://www.guestapartment.com/rent-apartments-paris/luxury-one-bedroom-rental-saint-germain-ancolia/. It says it is in the heart of Saint Germain. It is on the very last street on the east edge of Saint Germain if we are using the technical borders of that 'hood. It says it is limited to three people but if you like it and if the boys will share a sofa bed, you may want to ask GAS if four people can stay there.
