Hi all, Just wondering if getting a booster will confuse the officials in France. My husband could get it now but we land in France in 12 days, and it won’t be 2 weeks. I’m thinking the date might confuse people checking his CDC card
Any thoughts?

I don’t think 3 shots on a CDC card will confuse them, I think they’ll know what a booster is, and 3 is better than 2 in any case.

I think you are right. I wouldn’t do it.
(Ironically, for the pass sanitaire, you only need to be one week after vaccination. However, for entry, two weeks are still required.
Ya… I think we missed the window.
If you are vaccinated and eligible for a booster haven’t you met that two week window since you were vaccinated 8 months ago? Yeah it might be confusing but the booster is your 3rd shot and shouldn’t matter if that was 2 weeks.
I believe the 2 week Entry requirement is after the 2nd shot, not the 3rd, as edryer said.
It is, but is the person looking at your card deciding on your entry going to understand that they are looking at a third shot rather than a second one?
I guess I am just hopelessly pessimistic because it seems like it would be easy to understand — yet I still worry about the potential for confusion (especially since booster shots are not widespread yet). Maybe I am needlessly pessimistic and it would be fine.
I received my third shot on Sunday. Had a different reaction this time than the second shot. Hopefully I will be well armed for our October trip to Switzerland and Paris.
I hear you Kim, there’s always the potential to get an idiot who could be confused seeing 3 shots on my CDC card but if they denied my entry I would not go away quietly. I would ask for a supervisor and I would make a scene if I had to.
But more likely, I would get someone that can count to 3 and not be confused, lol.
If we had the 14 days prior to arrival, then I would have no problem getting our boosters. I’m only concerned because we land at CDG in 12 days.
I would get the booster and bring confirmation indicating it was the booster just in case. Your husband will be safer with it, which seems more important to me. And 2 days in there will be no issue anyway. IMO
Have the third shot put on a new card. Just show your original card. Staple the two together after the trip.
Edit for clarity:
Or, since it’s being discussed on the French news daily, if for some reason you show the new card too, tell then it’s the troisième injection, the term being used in France.
Third shots for those over 65 begin in September and appointments open next week. It's not an alien concept.
I very much agree with Wray.
And Bets’ suggestion is genius.
Aimee...I got mine on Sunday and the pharmacist put the third vax info on the third line. All done and ready to go!
how are you able to get third shots now? We are supposed to leave Sept 20 and that is the day when the authorization to offer them seems to be coming through.
Folks who are immuno-compromised can get their third shots now.
Aimee, Putting a 3rd vaccination on a new card means CaliMom won’t have to show it to an official and risk confusing them. She can just show them her original card which has her first two vaccinations that are dated more than 14 days prior to entering.
This solution is specific to CaliMom who will be entering the country 12 days after her 3rd vaccination. Doesn’t apply to anyone entering 14 days or more after the 3rd vaccination.
CVS in Southern California is taking appointments. No wait hardly.
Aimee… : )
Third shots aren’t available in the U.K. and friends who live in various parts of Europe can’t get a third yet either, so people are used to seeing just two shots on official documentation. I wouldn’t complicate matters.
