Anyone departing in the next few days?

Hi there - I've skimmed the latest postings and appreciate all of the insight. We are scheduled to depart for France in two days. I understand the EU report is just a recommendation and therefore eagerly awaiting to hear if France will impose any new rules? (Specifically considering Italy's requirement of the negative test with one day's notice). (We are vaccinated).
Just trying to navigate if I need to prepare for any additional requirements in the next day! Any guesses to when they'd announce such updates/ in the past have changes gone into effect immediately? (certainly not trying to stir up speculation, just anxious with my 1 day timeline :)

As always, I'll keep a watchful eye on the forum (which I check well before checking news sites :) )
Anyone else facing the same conundrum?

Also - thank you to the folks in France now giving the updates! Much appreciated. Applied for the QR code through old system on 8/16 and never heard anything. Sent in new applications via the website on 8/28 and nothing yet!

Sorry I don't have anything to offer other than commiseration! I'm supposed to leave on Friday, going with my mom for her first trip outside of North America! (We've changed these tickets five times as we were originally set for April 2020.) I completely get your feelings of AUGH and WHAT NEXT and OH GEEZ.

So hopeful that the French government makes their announcement first thing in the morning their time so you wake up to good news.

My husband and I are suppose to depart on the 2nd and really just unsure what to do. I was considering scheduling a PCR test just in case. Like you, I'll be watching the boards. Just know you aren't alone.

Totally understand your situation. Scheduled to leave Friday and anxiously waiting for guidelines. I am thinking of getting a COVID test in the next day or so just in case it ends up being required for the journey.

I'm leaving for Spain on Sept 8th, I've scheduled a rapid Covid test on the day before we leave even though they are not requiring one right now. I don't want to get caught having to produce a neg test at the last second because the rules changed. Got my vaccination card ready, Will get the QR code the 7th and a good supply of masks, just hope we can actually get there!

I will post a short synopsis of how the actual journey from Kansas to Mallorca, Spain goes so that if anyone else has a trip planned in the near future to Spain, they will at least benefit from my experience.

Departing Wednesday, 9/1. Have the QR code. Anxiously waiting to see what new restrictions will be implemented.

How hard would it be to get an antigen test before you leave? How expensive? If it's doable, why not go ahead with that, in case it becomes a requirement? If it's positive, presumably you won't want to travel anyway. I hope it's negative and you get to make the trip and have a wonderful time!

We are eagerly waiting too, with our departure two weeks away. Although we are both vaccinated, we are planning on several PCR tests to be on the safe side BEFORE we even board a flight just in case we have an asymptomatic breakthrough then we would rather have that all happen at home! Testing is free and easy to get in Rhode Island so we will be ready either way AND the artist residency we are going to requires both!

just curious- why are you going for CPR tests instead of Antigen. Wouldn't those be quicker, more accessible and cheaper to obtain?

I'm scheduled to leave Friday for Belgrade for a very small group tour. I'm getting a PCR test before I leave (plus bringing my vaccine card) so I won't have trouble transiting through Munich or arriving in Belgrade. Pretty excited to travel again, but a little apprehensive about the changing requirements. Oh well.... it's just part of the adventure :-)
Enjoy your trip!

I am leaving tomorrow (31st, Reykavik), and onward to Paris on 8 September. To say the least, I am very interested in what may change.

The shortest and most accurate answer is that we don't know. Very unsatisfying.

A slightly better answer might be gleaned by reading this document from the French Ministry of Interior: https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/L-actu-du-Ministere/Certificate-of-international-travel

As currently stated, the US is on the Green list. My feeling is that this may change. If the US moves to the Amber list (as one would think), then for vaccinated travelers, not much changes. Even off the Red List, not a lot changes for the vaccinated. This is my own reading, of course, check for yourself. My belief is that they won't change their fundamental structure, just move us into a different bucket. The powers that be are appeased, and they still get most of those lovely Yankee dollars that we bring.

To be sure, I have no authority or inside information of any kind. My reading of the tea leaves is that a lot of this is political, given that the US is not currently admitting EU travelers (admittedly unfair). They already have the Delta variant (and plenty of it), and when I last checked the data, only 1 of all of the EU countries met their own published standards for rate of spread (75 per 100K). Their own travel and hospitality industry would be very, very unhappy if they just turned off the tap.

I will of course be checking for updates over the next few days (as will you). Our fates are in the hands of the bureaucrats. I'm tempted to indulge in some obscure pagan ritual just in case. If I could sacrifice an anti-vaxxer, I most certainly would. Good luck all.

The BinoxNow tests from eMed are supervised online which is why they are more expensive. Self-tests that aren't supervised online will not be accepted by any airlines I have found.

We are scheduled to leave on the 2nd as well! Also have my fingers crossed that there is some clear statement!

It does come as a relief to know I am not alone in the wondering! Thank you all for your comments!

No news is good news so we are set to depart tomorrow 9/1. Still no QR Code -- keep checking the site and status remains in "en construction". Like someone said above -- I think that once we arrive in France it will be fine to manage with CDC cards but am hopeful the code makes it to us before departure. (Thank you to whoever shared that CDC card has worked on TGV train, we take a train from CDG upon arrival).

We are scheduled to depart for Paris (from San Francisco) on the 14th. I filled out the application for the pass Sanitaire (with LOTS of help from this forum) yesterday and hoping to get that before we go. But I'm worried that France may instate a quarantine on arrivals from the USA, which would mean postponing our trip.

I can't imagine that they would instate a quarantine upon arrival for vaccinated people. You may be arriving just at the right time to not have to go through extra hoops. Don't overstress. (Easier said than done, je sais).
