Anyone Connect Through Another EU Country Lately to Get from U.S. to France?

With all of the airlines dropping their prices a bit, we can now fly from LA to FRA to Marseilles a couple hundred dollars less than what I currently have booked. And, this would save us the stress of a short connection time before an OUIGO from CDG to Aix-en-Provence.

I know this is popular routing from California. Has anyone flown this route this month? Any trouble getting into France from Germany?

I am not an expert on this so I'll just tell you my thought process for travel soon. I think it's better to just stick to one country right now. Things are changing quickly enough in single countries with Covid requirements that it seems adding an additional set of regulations to the mix is unnecessarily complicated. If there was no choice then you'd have to do it, otherwise, I'd fly in to France if that is your ultimate destination.

And no, this would not have been my answer pre-Covid.

beginning to regret a flight from Chicago to Frankfurt to Geneva - for arrival in Chamonix. At this time, I don't need testing etc if just transiting in Germany or for Switzerland but of course things change.

Agree Aimee! It looks like Lufthansa from LAX to Marseilles thru Frankfurt is fine! I’ll call United today and confirm. Will post back here.

My trains from CDG to Aix just are not quite working out without costing me taxi fare to Gare de Lyon or out to Gare de Marne la Vallee at Disneyland Paris.

According to United, Americans can transit through Munich and Frankfurt airports with no problem!

We fly from Seattle to Paris, with a stopover in Iceland on Friday. It's looking like smooth sailing from our vantage point today.

CaliMom, I know your pain/concerns about the connection time at CDG for a train. Our original Nov direct LAX - CDG flight was cancelled in Feb and Delta put us on a flight through Detroit. The direct flight is back on the site, but the 3 hr. layover in Detroit brings us into CDG before 09:00 & provides that nice buffer of time for the direct train at 11:24 out of CDG - Strasbourg. So we are keeping the DTW connection. 94 days and counting.....

You got your answers above but I'll add. We connected from SFO to MUC to NCE last weekend, with no stopover and no separate test required (just a CDC card at checkin). There is a form to fill out from the website and another one they will give you on the short leg from Germany. Just a note: if you connect through you will need a surgical, FPP2, KN95 or N95 mast on the flight. Also via MUC a FPP2/KN95 or better was required for the lounge and some areas.
