Any small town to visit between Nice and Paris?

We end our RS tour in Nice next June, and have plenty of time to get back to Paris for our flight home. (yes, I've changed my mind about our itinerary). We be traveling by train or bus, as appropriate. I was hoping that maybe there's some sweet small towns we could stop in along the way. We don't need museums or attractions, just a place to enjoy la belle vie in France. Thanks for any suggestions that anyone has.

ps: I drove in France many many years ago when I was much younger, and have no desire to do so now :-)

How many nights do you have after the tour ends and need to be back in Paris?

We have no made reservations yet for our flight home. I'm thinking we could take as much as a week, but it really doesn't matter yet. We were thinking of spending a few more days in the Paris area before flying out because I want to go to Giverny.

I would take a train from the Nice Ville station to Avignon and use Avignon as my base to explore Provence.
