We will be in Strasbourg 1 - 4 December '24. Plan to do the market, and visit Colmar and probably Basel. I've been looking at the typical on line short term rental places as well as hotels - just wondering if anyone has any places they would specifically recommendt?
Thanks,
Steve
You did not say what type of accommodations you are looking for, from budget to luxury.
I stayed at the Hotel Gutenberg last month, a nice mid-range hotel just off Gutenberg Square, so would be very convenient for the Christmas market. It is just a couple of minutes walk from the nearest tram stop and 2 blocks from the cathedral. Maybe 10 minute walk to Petite France. I arrived by train and took the tram from the station. If you come by car, the hotel has no parking, but there is underground parking in Gutenberg Square.
We stayed at the Hotel Boma last year around the same time, it was about a 10 min walk from the train station and close to a lot of things. The main area of Strasbourg is pretty small so we just walked everywhere, only needed the tram or bus for stuff to the east like Parc de l'Orangerie.
Be sure to visit the old town area, and if it's on your bucket list the German border isn't too far so you could step over it
I stayed 4 nights at the Moulin Rouge last Thanksgiving weekend for the markets and it was perfect. Great location and excellent hotel. Last weekend I was at the Aloft, which is a bit further out of the city center, but if you're okay with walking an extra km or two it's clean, cheap, and there's good food close by.
Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole is nice, and walkable from the train station. Good location. Also, Hotel Arok is very nice. Again, easy walk to everything and an easy walk from the train station. Frequented both and never had a bad stay.
