Hi Everyone, I just found the flight from Rome to Nice on our chosen day on skyscanner is a very late one, was hoping one in the morning or early afternoon so that we'd be able to have a look around in Nice, and next day can depart for Provence. Any other airports near Nice that may not be listed on the skyscanner? Or other regional airline?
Marseille Provence Airport is closest.
Thank you Jazz+travels.
Though Marseille still has a few flights, the time's also no good for us as by the time we take the train to Nice, it'll also mean we'd lose that day on the road. I had another search, found we can choose to take a morning flight to Genoa or Turin in Italy, then train to Nice, hopefully can arrive in early afternoon. Anyone's done that? Which way's easier? Genoa or Turin?
Genoa is faster on the train and there are more trains, about 1 per hour. Most require a change of trains at the border in Ventigmiglia, but if you can manage to catch one of the Thello trains, they go all the way to Nice. Nonetheless, you have some logistics to deal with. You need to get a bus from the airport to Piazzza Principe station, and that is liable to be at least 2 hours from your scheduled landing after you get luggage off the plane. If you take one of the Regionales, you can also get a cab to Genova Sestri Ponente Aeroporto station and get it there. Still. at best it will be 6 hours before you get to Nice after the plane lands at Genoa.

Or there is a perfectly nice train from Rome. InterCity train from Rome up the coast to Genoa, change for Ventimiglia or straight through to Nice. Or extremely fast train to Milan, then Thello to Nice. No need to fly unless you want to.
That's a shame, sounds like we'd lose that day in transit if there's train involved. Thank you Sam and Nigel. I'll mull over the options...
