Any one have tips to get Eiffel Tower Tickets

We lost our window of opportunity to purchase on-line tickets for Eiffel Tower admittance. Does anyone have any other alternatives. We will be in Paris July 18-21, 2014?
Very much appreciated

Get up early and go get in line before everybody else. That's a sure-fire way to get them.

Try a Behind the Scenes tour which enables you skip the lines to the second level (there's a short line and $5 extra charge to get to the 3rd level). I recommend Get Your Guide tours but there are several companies that do it.

The line for stairs is shorter, cheaper and faster. You can climb to second level. I have done it and i am middleaged and not fit.
If u want to go to top(which is overrated) you can get in line on the second level for tickets. Line is shorter there.

We've had this question many times over the years. We've researched it as well. The tickets go on sale 90 days out at 8:30am in Paris. That's 11:30pm the night before on the west coast of the U.S. or 2:30am on the east coast on the same day. Most tickets are gone within minutes. If you wait until you wake up, most time slots will be gone. I bet that you now know what you need to do to get the tickets online.

Go on a night that it is raining, like we did a few weeks ago. On May 21, there were almost no people waiting on line anywhere and the tower was empty. Okay, so you're probably wondering why anyone would choose to go in the rain? Well, unfortunately, we had successfully purchased on-line tickets a couple months ahead for that Wednesday evening at 9:30 pm. It rained most of the day, but we said what the heck and went anyway. Once on the Tower's second level, the heavens opened up. We got completely soaked! Then, about 15 minutes later, a big wind came and blew all of the clouds away, revealing a crystal-clear view of the City of Lights below. I ended up getting some great photos and we have an unforgettable memory of our visit to the Eiffel Tower. The moral to the story is that even if you are successful in purchasing on-line tickets, you are at the mercy of Mother Nature.

Thanks Robert for bringing that up. I always advise people not to pre-purchase tickets for anything that may be weather related. For the ET I always recommend going early before they open in the morning (you'll stand in line but not too long), or go in the evening shortly before sunset, when I was there the lines always seemed much short then. I went a half-hour before sunset and waited all of 20 minutes and that was in high season. Or do as Pat recommends and climb the stairs to 2nd level and get elevator to top from there if going to the top is important to you.

If you can't get a ticket online you can try the following.
Pay to take the stairs-that line is always shorter
Go early and get in line for the lift before the Tower opens
Make a reservation at one of the restaurants at the Eiffel tower
Go the day before and see if you can make a reservation-they release tickets sometimes
Book a tour that includes the Eiffel Tower.

Check out the "Paris Insiders Guide" for Eiffel Tower tours. Far more costly, but I wanted to treat my grandson.

I didn't realize the need to order tickets early, and didn't try until less than a month before our visit. I found nothing available, but noticed there was some availability for sooner dates. I checked daily for availability and saw the dates available changed each day. After a few days of checking I was able to buy tickets, 20 days before the date of the visit. Some family members had the same experience on a different trip. So keep checking as your date gets closer!
