Hi Everyone, we are thinking to do the sightseeing of Avignon on the day before we catch TGV to Paris in the afternoon. We will be based at Saint Remy before that and using a rental car to do day-trips. Is there luggage storage facility in Avignon? I don't think we should keep the car whilst in Avignon. Also, how long does it usually take to go around the town? We are first-time visitors, common sights will be just fine.
Avignon Centre station has lockers nearby but Avignon TGV station does not have storage. At which one are you dropping the car? I suppose that the car rental offices at the TGV station must get frequent storage requests from their customers but I don't know their policies.
You'll be fine to walk around for half a day in Avignon. I did so recently on a day-trip, but did not visit inside the Palais des Papes, since I'd been in years before, and since it's basically empty inside.
Thank you Laura. I haven't booked the rental car yet, so suppose can drop it off at whichever station makes more sense to us in terms of being able to go around without the luggage. TGV definitely doesn't have the facility, but I've seen many conflicting info in regards to the central station. So hopefully someone's been in this situation before and can enlighten us.
Michelle,
Keep in mind that the left luggage facility is not located within the Avignon Centre train station, but in the city center within the medieval city walls.

Have a wonderful trip!

Oh dear, it is a Sunday we are planning to go, :-(. Thanks for the info, Priscilla, good to know for next time. But, is there anything else that will be closed?
Michelle,
You may want to contact them to confirm their hours.
As far as what's closed on Sundays...
Consider checking the respective websites of the places you're interested in seeing.
I do recall some restaurants and shops were closed on Sunday.
I edited my earlier response to add the word "nearby." Note that city-center car rental offices are also closed on Sundays (as in most of France), but those at the TGV station are open. Most sightseeing options, including the market hall but not the synagogue, are open Sundays.
