We will be coming from Amsterdam in Sept 2016 and we want to see some areas in the south of France. I would like to go to Orleans, rent a car and proceed from there to the Loire Valley, then the Dordogne, then to Carcasonne, and then fly back to Paris from Toulouse or maybe over to Bordeaux. I'm not sure if Bordeaux is worth a visit. Does this itinerary seem like a good idea? We have about one week to accomplish all this and I really don't want to short change an area. Any suggestions? We mostly like to look at scenery, castles, and museums. Thanks everyone
Day 1 Train from Amsterdam (via Paris) to Tours (3 nts)
Day 2,3 Rental car (??) for chateaux visits
Day 4 Train from Tours to Bordeaux (2 nts)
Day 6 (am) Train from Bordeaux to Carcassonne (1 nt)
Day 7 (pm) Train from Carcassonne to Paris (or fly from Toulouse)
Trains from Tours to Bordeaux, and from Bordeaux to Carcassonne are each about 3 hours.
Thanks so much!
