Antibes for 2 nights then onto Arles

We are flying into Nice on June 1 and renting a car for a 21 day tour of the ares of France we have missed on previous trips. Spending just 2 nights in Antibes while we get over jet lag and then onto Provence. (We already have been to Nice, Monaco, etc on previous trips). Wondered what folks thought of absolute “must do’s “ for our brief stay in Antibes and the drive to Arles.

the sculpture garden in the yard of the Picasso museum in Antibes has pieces that Picasso collected from other artists and that gives you an interesting perspective on his own taste in art and of his social circle.

The Commune Libre du Safranier, a kind of traditional tenants-in-common collective, has a restaurant that is in the RS guidebook; I enjoyed it a lot, atmosphere, food, desserts, hospitality, the whole package

Since they are your "get over jet lag" days, I'd take it easy. Maybe visit the Picasso museum (see the Rick Steves episode to see whether it's art that's likely to interest you or not), but otherwise walk through the old town, hang out on the beach, and eat some good food.

We ate a good lunch at Bangkok Cafe one day. There's an entire line of restaurants along the wall just inside the old town.

We ate dinner another night at Chez Mô, walking in early without a reservation. Someone who acted like an owner (or at least a manager) had a waiter rearrange some tables for us and seated us, then proceeded to give us a great meal. He made a show of presenting the fish that we would eat before it was cooked, after it was cooked, and then after it was filleted. The restaurant was completely full by the time we left some hours later, so I'm guessing a reservation would be a good idea.
