Antibes as a base for exploring Côte d’Azur?

We have stayed in Nice a couple of times in past years and Cannes once - and this time are hoping for some time at a sandy beach that is beautiful but perhaps a bit more off the beaten track.

We have booked hotel Josse in Antibes along the beachfront - and was told the train station is about a 10-15 min walk from there as is the old town center. We’d also like to visit Nice and Monaco - and perhaps other points so the train line is crucial. Has anyone used Antibes as a base - or other ideas?

We used Antibes as a base last fall. We stayed 5 nights and absolutely loved it there. It was the end of a long trip and we wanted a slower pace than Nice. We did a lot of relaxing on our balcony, strolling the beachfront, and walking the old town area of Antibes. We did walk from the train station to our waterfront hotel - with our luggage - and it was fine. I think you’ll be fine staying there - especially since you already know the area a bit.

The walk to Antibes station is 1 mile, and 3/4 mile to Juan les Pins, so that's more of a 20-25 minute walk.
Still a good location, right by the beach (which is nothing special, but relaxing) and close to Antibes old town. Also, there are local buses to/from Antibes station.

Our first trip to the area we stayed in Antibes ... we loved it and I would book in Antibes again.
