Another strike on Thursday, October 2nd?

I subscribe to Les Frenchies and their email this morning mentioned another planned strike on Thursday, October 2nd. Apparently four representative SNCF unions have "joined forces" and it is advised to avoid all public transportation. My question is; we are arriving at CDG for a connecting flight to Marsailles that morning and I assume we won't be impacted....? Also, would this be a nationwide strike, or "just" the greater Paris area?

We're having a private driver pick us up that day (assuming we get there) from Marseilles airport to take us to Aux-en-Provence. I assume this strike won't impact us there?

October 2nd will be a nationwide strike.

To date, and according to the latest information,

Train traffic could be significantly impacted. Train cancellations will be announced on Tuesday, September 30th.

In Paris, public transport is expected to be severely disrupted, with the main unions also calling for a strike.

Air traffic is expected to be little or no impacted. No major notice has been given by the representative unions as of this date.
An air traffic controllers' strike is planned for October 7th, 8th, and 9th.

This strike will have no impact on private transportation except for occasional traffic disruptions during street demonstrations in major cities.

Thank you JoLui. I had to move heaven & earth to get two sets of elderly parents ready for us to be gone. Sounds like we will be able to get to Paris ok, but our flight to Marseille might be sketch if air port workers and baggage handlers can't get to work.

Reports today out of the financial press assess that train traffic will not be a huge problem Thursday - maybe some difficulties on TERs, but not on TGVs nor on the RATP (Paris local transport).

I’m in Paris now and have tickets to Disneyland today (10/1) that requires taking an RER. I’m getting a message that today may be an issue, but we are going to go to the station and see what happens.

Just a follow up to my trip to Disneyland on 10/1. We were able to take the RER A most of the way until it stopped and everyone had to get out. The announcement at the station instructed people going to Disneyland to get on the next train, which arrived in less than 10 minutes. Going back to Paris that evening the train got us almost home, but to get to our intended stop we had to go one station past ours and then backtrack because in one direction it wasn’t stopping at our station but the other direction it was. We have spent a lot of time in Paris and are experienced with using public transportation. It may have been more stressful for people who are not as experienced, but it all came works out.

We have had things like that happen in non strikes too -- we were taking the B last spring and it stopped due to some mechanical issue at a station on the outskirts with no indication of what we should do. Luckily a local was able to direct us to another platform to get a train to Paris. We have also been stranded underground for half an hour a couple of times -- once on our way to a concert. So stuff can happen.

For anyone still reading this thread we flew into CDG and breezed through to our connecting flight to Marseille and then our driver from our hotel brought us into Aux-en-Provence. No issues at all! Could not tell there was a strike. Everything went great!
