another Paris morning traffic and getting to CDG airport for a flight...

we have a flight leaving at 7:20 a.m. from CDG and we are leaving from 1st ARR district and going to CDG...we are planning on leaving via taxi at about 4:45a, hoping to arrive at CDG by 5:45a to check...we are flying to Israel from there...is that enough time to get to CDG at that time of the morning and we were told to be at the airport 2 hours before...but I've read that 3 hours before the flight on this forum...

Hi John — the three hours is what is usually recommended for trans-Atlantic flights. If your carrier has recommended two hours, that is probably fine.

That early in the morning you can get there from the 1st in probably 30 minutes.

I would check with your carrier as to what time their check-in desks even open at CDG that day.

thanks, Kim...we are flying easyJet to Israel. I read on the CDG website that 3 hours is recommended.

So, if we leave the hotel in the 1st ARR district at 3:45 a.m. we'll have no problem reaching CDG in 30 minutes then, right? We'll before the 3 hour time to check in recommendation, right?

Have you considered staying at or near the airport on your last night? On our last trip, we stayed at the Ibis Styles in the village of Roissy.

I had a flight yesterday 10/26 (Saturday) from CDG to ATL at 9:15am. We left from our hotel in the 5th (basically at the Notre Dame/Saint Michel RER station for reference). We left at 6am or so (we hailed a G7 cab - it may have been a few minutes before 6) and were dropped at Terminal 2E by about 6:25 (I had planned on an hour to the airport like you)...There was no line at security or customs. We were through security and sitting down at Pret a Manger with breakfast by 7:15...if not earlier. I didn't pay close attention to times though. But, I had a ton of time to kill. For what its worth, I walked a lot through the terminal while killing the time and the later the morning got, the more crowded.

Using my experience, you should be fine with time.

I would be wary of leaving for the airport at 3:45 — because I doubt the EasyJet check in desks are open at 4 am. You should definitely check what time they even open. There is no sense being in an empty airport for 45 minutes from 4:15 to 5 am (if that’s when they open; I don’t know when they open).

Yes, a half hour should a suffice at that time of day.

Sounds like you are looking for a guarantee. There aren´t any guarantees.

For Easy Jet flights to Israel, bag drop off opens 3 hours before departure and closes 40 minutes before departure. Possibly more critical is that the gates close 30 minutes before departure. For many airlines, flights to Israel have special security procedures requiring extra time. You need to have bags checked, security completed, and passport control all finished by 06h50. At CDG, security generally goes quickly but I have waited in the passport control lines for over an hour on many, many occasions. I have also gone through passport control being the only person in line. You do not know which scenario will present itself the morning of your departure.

There can be any number of problems reaching CDG. Other than Sunday morning when there is rarely if ever any traffic to the airport, I always allow 60 minutes en route; more if it is raining.

Departing your hotel at 03h45 would be the very latest time I would even consider.
