Anniversary dinner recommendations in/near the 18th

Hi all! My husband & I will be in Paris this October for our 30th wedding anniversary. We will be staying in 18th and would like some dinner recommendations. We love great food and a cozy atmosphere. We're not into the nouveau gastronomy where you get fish foam, gel balls and edible flowers on your plate. I made reservations at Le Paris Montparnasse in the 14th, but I'm not sure that will fit the bill for us. I'm thinking that somewhere a little more intimate will be better. Recommendations?

NOT Le Paris Montparnasse. I like that place actually especially with kids but it is not what you want for a celebration (the food seems pretty industrial). We once had lunch to celebrate an anniversary at La Tour d'Argent; it was really wonderful and much more affordable at lunch than dinner

Our favorite celebration place now is L'Initial where you get a beautifully presented lovely 7 course meal for 54 Euro. The food is elegant but not performance art like -- real food. The menu includes nibbles on the table and then an amuse, two entrees (last time it was a shrimp and fennel dish and a fabulous grilled foie gras), a fish course, a choice of meat course (last time it was rack of lamb, a game pie, and sweetbreads ), two desserts including a sorbet and then mignardises -- so there are actually 9 things. Coffee and drinks extra but not prohibitive.

Les Ombres has the beautiful view through the roof to the Eiffel Tower and you can see their lunch and dinner menus on line. Train Bleu has the beautiful room.

Looks at the recent New York Times artlcle titled “3 courses for 20 euros”. It mentions several beautiful traditional French restaurants that they said are good and worth eating at, even without the 3 course specials. I’d add the article link, but don’t know how to do that. Sorry. And happy anniversary!
