Anniversary Dinner in Paris

Hello All,

We'll be in Paris in a few weeks, which happens to coincide with our anniversary (my parents have agreed to watch the kids!). I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a special or unique or just favorite place for dinner they could recommend.

We're staying at the Hotel le Tourville, in the seventh, but of course could take the Metro somewhere father afield.

We won't have any particularly fancy clothes; I'll have a sundress and sandals, my husband will likely be in jeans and a polo.

I'm willing to spend some $$$ on the meal, but don't want to break the bank. So let's say no more that 200E, including wine. Under that would be great, though.

Thanks!

Our wonderful “Big Splurge” restaurant last Christmas was La Closerie des Lilas: https://www.closeriedeslilas.fr/

If you care about stuff like this, it was a favorite of Hemingway. And Picasso, Baudelaire, Wilde, and gazillions of other artistic heavyweights also used to hang there.

It’s in the 6th. Your clothes will suit. The food is incredible. The service is impeccable. The setting is classy and dreamy. It’s old world/old school Paris in the modern age, and is absolutely delightful, IMHO.

In April I enjoyed dinner at Hestia in the 5th. It's only been open about a year and is on the tacky Rue de la Huchette, but the food and service was great. Much better than a Michelin restaurant I dined at later in the week.

Wonderful welcome, the server gladly explained the menu and wine to me. Not a set menu, but they start you with a dish of olives while you look over the menu. Both amuse bouches served before your meal and mignardises after. The dining room was lively the night I was there and mostly French speakers.

You might consider La Fonataine de Mars, entrées about 20€, plats 30€ - 40€. If you add a dessert and a bottle of wine, you will be close to 200€.

Le P'tit Troquet - Menu at 45€

Au Petit Tonneau
Entées about 20€, Plats 35€ to 50€

For a special occasion, I might recommend Le Violon d'Ingres or Les Ombres, but you'll likely need to boost your budget closer to 300€ - 350€. Reserve about 1 - 2 weeks in advance.

Our celebratory restaurant is l'Initial in the 5th. Plain room, but very nice multi course tasting menu -- a couple of appetizers, a fish course, a meat course with three choices, and dessert. We have eaten there many times and never been disappointed; celebrated my birthday with friends and my daughter this April. The menu is about 70 Euro each plus wine.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I was able to make a reservation at La Fontaine de Mars. Looking forward to the duck confit!
