I am meeting my daughter in Annecy and was planning to rent a car and drive to Cannes, possibly stopping in Lyons & Avignon along the way. I’m worried about driving...petrified of heights and cliff side roads (had to leave a car in Positano because could not handle driving on the Amalfi coast!). Does anyone have experience with driving this route? Would it cause anxiety for someone like me??? Maybe the train is better...? Also, any recommendations for places to stay overnight and places to eat would be most welcome!

It’s wide freeway the whole way. First from Annecy to just south of Lyon, it’s mountain freeway, hills, wide curves and wide lanes. The 6 going down the Rhone Valley is long and flat. Next you swing east after Aix, again on a fairly straight freeway with a few hills, and you don’t even see water until about 10 minutes before Cannes. No cliffs. No drops.
