Annecy Hotel?

Last September we stayed at Hotel du Chateau, which is tucked under the town chateau (Musée-Château d'Annecy). It was a good place to stay and not expensive. Not sure about A/C, however, and looking at Booking I do not see A/C listed. I don't remember that it had an elevator. We walked to the hotel from the train station; I should mention that while the walk was not that far, it did require a short climb (20 meters/66ft) up a hill. There is a street, Rampe du Chateau that gets you there without stairs, important if you are bringing rolling luggage....

Thank you, Bruce, for your helpful reply. Stairs or wheeled luggage aren't an issue (I'll have my Rick Steves travel bag on my back!) but will definitely check out Hotel du Chateau. Just curious: when were you there and was it uncomfortably hot (if it was summer)? I've been hearing a lot about the heat all over Europe though I don't imagine it's any worse than many places in the U.S.

My notes say that we were there Sept 4, 2025. We were there only one nite which is very unusual for us, after taking the "Bla Bla" Bus from Chamonix. I understand your concern about hot weather, but to answer your question, I remember the weather as cool enough to be comfortable in pants, not hot at all. There was a thunderstorm there in the late afternoon, but the sky cleared up afterwards with a double rainbow. There is a patio at the hotel that looks down on the old part of the town. We found the old town quite charming and beautiful.

We stayed at the Allobroges Park Hotel in late May 2026 and were very happy with the property. It was the hotel for our RS My Way France tour. It is a walk from the Old Town center, but we didn’t find it an issue and we’re the senior demographic. There is an elevator, AC, a buffet breakfast and complimentary coffee and cookies on the landing during the day. You won’t be getting a view, but the staff is great and we’d stay there again.

Echo Patty's recommendation for Allobroges Park Hotel. Stayed there in 2024 and would do so again when returning to Annecy.

Ooh Bruce and I were in Annecy at the same time! I was there on the 4th and 5th of Sept and stayed at the Ibis. Weather was rather wonderful and yes, the Tstorm that came in on the 4th was awesome for the beautiful backdrop it left for the epic photos I took!

In 2022, we stayed at Hotel du Palais de l'Isle Annecy, listed in RS France as €€, had air conditioning, our room overlooked the Palais de I'Île in the river Thiou. Location was ideal, would stay there again.

not hotel des marquisats as quite far and up hill!
Catalpa is closer to town and bus stop
Muses has a private parking
so any of those 2 should be nice
avoid coming during the MIFA, movie festival every June during 5 days!
