Annecy and Beaune France in late August tips?

My friend and I are travelling to France in late August.
2 nights Beaune
3 nights Annecy
2 nights Paris (I have been before, and my friend only wanted a stop over this trip)

Asking for any tips or suggestions you have for Beaune or Annecy, and wanted to ask about the real need for accomodations with AC in either, or both, of these places. I have been in Paris in March and June, so I suppose I could include Paris in this particular part of the question as well.

I have been under the impression that, in Annecy in particular, it would be fairly cool (low 70's) at night, but then reading someone's post about an August Annecy trip, and how miserably hot they were at the hotel on a first floor prompted me to write here.

We are actually looking at Airbnb as well as hotels, and don't see many of either with AC, so thinking that we will be comfortable with windows open, but thought I would ask to see what some of you thought.

I was in Annecy in late June last year and it was hot. Ditto Beaune. I would not risk lodgings without air conditioning. Even if you're very lucky and get a room (not on the top floor!) with good cross-ventilation (unlikely) and it cools off a lot at night, you may find you need a mid-day break to cool off, and for that you'll want a room with a/c.

I'm not surprised about the lack of a/c in Airbnb rooms, but you should be able to find it in a hotel.

Low 70s at night is not especially cool if it follows a hot day and/or humidity.
