Angers & Tours, France

We leave next Friday to spend a few days in Paris and a few days in Angers. Our oldest son is studying in Angers so we'd like to see where he lives etc.

I'm having issues figuring out how to get from Angers to Tours to see some of the castles etc. Can anyone help?

Also, suggestions of what to do in Angers would be most welcome. My son has not been much help on that front!

It's very easy...you take a train to the Gare de Tours from the Angers train station. Angers has some amazing art museums and their castle is worth a visit as well. From the Gare de Tours there are several options to see the chateaux. www.chateaux-tours.com gives you transportation from 3-6 chateaux in one day. It doesn't cover entrance, just simple transportation. It's very easy and stress free.

Do not miss the Tapestry of the Apocalypse, an enormous woven work of art. I have heard that there is now a modern counterpart, but it wasn't there when we visited in 1995.

Thank you both very much for your replies. I'll look more closely at taking the rail to Tours and finding a castle tour when we get there.
Merci!

If you are an art fan, Angers has two museums that I adore. Their Musee des Beaux-Arts as well as the Galerie David d'Angers. Must sees in my opinion. I loooooove Angers. I looooove Tours as well. This region of France is hands-down my favorite.
