Will most shops/restaurants be open in Amboise (Loire Valley) Sunday afternoon in Sept. (1-4pm)? We don't want to get there and have food places (take-away is OK) and most shops closed. Thanks, Elaine

It depends when in September. In early September Amboise (and most of France) will still be in summer holiday mode as grandparents get an opportunity to travel without kids in tow. The things that will be shut are the more adventurous stuff that depends on young families.
You will always find something to eat in Amboise.
