Amboise to Mont St. Michel lunch

Hi
We will be leaving Amboise around 8 AM and driving to Mount St Michel? Is there a cute town or area along the route to stop for lunch? We would like to be close to Mont St Michel to check in to our hotel around four and go to Abby by 5.
Thanks for your help

You could visit Vitré, a lovely town just at the edge of Brittany. Leaving at 8, you'd have time to visit the town and then have lunch. The drive to the Mont os barely more than 1 hour afterwards.

In addition to Vitré you could also consider the pretty little village of Sainte-Suzanne or the larger town of Fougères. All three places make for a good stopover and it might be possible to visit either Sainte-Suzanne or Vitré first and then head to Fougères for lunch before heading to MSM. Or, since Sainte-Suzanne is the first place you'll pass (and it's only a 2 hour drive from Amboise) and it's a small village stop there first and then head to Vitré or Fougères for lunch. It's just under a 2 hour drive from Vitré to MSM and just under a 1-1/2 hour drive from Fougères to MSM. Check out their tourist office websites to see which most interests you.
