We will be traveling by train on June 23 from Amboise to Avignon. We can take the TGV from Amboise to Gare Montparnasse or the non-TGV to Gare D'Austerlitz. Either way, we need to make our way to Gare de Lyon to catch the TGV to Avignon. It seems we could almost walk from D'Austerlitz to de Lyon and that might be easier and faster than taking the metro from Montparnasse to de Lyon. With two train trips scheduled, time might be a factor. This is our first trip to France. Any advice?
Within Paris, I agree that I would prefer to walk a few blocks across the bridge from Gare D'Austerlitz. Or perhaps even better, there's at least one departure per day that avoids Paris:
Amboise(St-Pierre) Th, 23.06.16, dep 13:59 TER60213 Train Express Regional (Direction: Tours) 2nd class only
St-Pierre-des-Corps Th, 23.06.16 arr 14:18
Transfer time 9 min.
St-Pierre-des-Corps Th, 23.06.16, dep 14:27 TGV 5322
TGV 5323 TGV Duplex (Direction: Marseille-St-Charles), Subject to compulsory reservation
Avignon TGV Th, 23.06.16 arr 18:44
You could also leave Amboise a half hour earlier if you want more transfer time at St-Pierre-des-Corps, but I expect it's a quite small station.
Thank you Laura. I'll consider your suggestions.
If you decide to change in Paris you can take bus 91 - which runs between Gare Montparnasse and Gare de Lyon.
