Amboise & Bordeaux

Amboise: I’m requesting Tour & Restaurant recommendations for our three night stay in the Loire Valley
Boudreaux: I’m requesting recommendations for guides to take us to two or three Chateaux & a place to spend two nights near or in Bordeaux.

Thank you.

We spent a week in Bordeaux this past fall. The hotel chosen for our Road Scholar tour was the Best Western Premier Bayonne Etche Ona and so we booked it for our independent nights as well.

It was a lovely little hotel with strong water pressure, nice rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff and great location. I would stay there again.

I loved Bordeaux…great, lively, walkable city.

We went to the Bassins des Lumieres while there. It’s a light art exhibit built into a massive World War II submarine base. Spectacularly cool. https://www.bassins-lumieres.com/

As to Amboise and the Loire Valley - we used Acco-Dispo for our chateaux touring day and had the van to ourselves. It was a fine way to see the chateaux.

In Amboise Anne de Bretagne serves the best French onion soup that I’ve tasted; it’s all about the broth. I also enjoy a deli sandwich from Café des Arts. I ate it on the train from Amboise to Paris as other passengers watched me eat it and one asked where I bought it.
