Alternative to car rental and luggage storage normandy area

I have read the forums and it seems there are no longer luggage lockers at Mont. st. michel. Our plan was to fly into Rennes, stay one night on Mont. St. Michel, travel to Bayeux for two nights (we have tours arranged) and then to paris. We would like to visit Giverny and Versailles before paris. I want to know if anyone has done this with luggage and no car. It is just myself and teen and im nervous about driving in another country. Second if a car is the only option can you recommend a good company at that airport picking up Sunday afternoon so I know some places are closed. Thank you for your advice.

I'll leave it to the no car driver folks to give you advice on the feasibility and ease of this trip without having a car, but I'm puzzled about your luggage question. If you're spending the night at a hotel on Mont-Saint-Michel, wouldn't your luggage rest comfortably in your hotel room? Or, at a minimum, at the hotel's guest luggage storage room?

Not exactly an answer but... Normandy is fairly rural with limited public transportation. Usually, to get between places like MSM and Bayeux, you often have to take a train to Paris, navigate to a different station across town, then take a train back out. I can't imagine your trip without a car. But if you drive at home, and learn just a few new rules and signs, driving in Normandy is super easy. I would, however, not drive in Paris proper. Better to pick up a a car at somewhere like Rennes or Caen.

As per Rick's recommendations, we carried only a backpack of overnite stuff for our stay on Mont St. Michel. We left our (well covered) rolly bags in the car understanding the potential risk. For us - a bit towards elderly - dragging the larger bags up the steps to our accommaditions was not a good call. Two recovering rotator cuff surgeries and one bad knee - yikes! We did the same 8 years ago at our first visit.
