Hi everyone, my wife and I (late 30's) are planning on spending 4-5 nights in Alsace in October for our anniversary. Neither of us have ever been before, and I'm trying to decide which city should be our base while we're there. We're not planning on renting a car, and we're planning on spending one day on wine tours, and then likely splitting the rest of the time visiting Colmar and Strasbourg.
Trying to decide where we should base out of while we're there - I've seen Rick Steves recommend staying in Colmar, and from what I've seen I'm confident we'll love the vibe there, but my parents visited Alsace a decade ago and felt pretty strongly that you can see all of Colmar in a single day trip and would run out of things/places to see there if there for days, whereas Strasbourg had enough that if we tried to do it all in a day-trip, we'd likely feel like we missed out on a lot of it.
Anyone have any thoughts or experiences on this decision? Thanks in advance!
