Alsace - Strasbourg and Colmar

Hello travellers,
I am travelling to France in August and would like to know if I should add Strasbourg, Colmar and Lyon to the itinerary with Paris (Giverny, Versailles & Disneyland) or head to Netherlands.
I have 4-5 days to plan for after Paris. I have seen photos of this region of Alsace on Google and I am really in awe.
Thank you in advance :)

Alsace can be very hot in August (highs above 30C are usual): are you OK with that?
If so, with 4-5 days, I would stick with Alsace without Lyon.

With only 4-5 days, I would also skip Lyon. Or you could do 2 days in Lyon and 2 in Strasbourg if you really want to include it.

I much prefer Alsace to the Netherlands. I’d just stay in Strasbourg and do a day trip to Colmar and perhaps one to Germany ( Gengenbach, Vogtsbauernhof open air museum, Triberg, Schiltach are some places I like )

We visited Strasbourg twice (loved both times) as well as Colmar and Lyon. We've also been to Amsterdam. I think you have to ask yourself, do you want to sample a different culture/country? Or have more of France? If you go the France route, I would just pick Strasbourg. Note: Amsterdam is just a 3 hour Eurostar ride away. Lots to see in do!

My suggestion would be to head to the Alsace after Paris, and leave the Netherlands for another trip. Of course, which place to choose may depend on where you're heading after that?

I'm going to differ with the majority here and suggest staying in Colmar and visit Strasbourg on a day trip. Colmar is a beautiful smaller city with some great restaurants and of course the wonderful Unterlinden Museum.

August is likely going to be hot & busy regardless of where you go, so pre-booking well in advance would be a really good idea.
