Alsace Christmas Market

Hi everyone,

We are visiting the Alsace Christmas markets in December. We will however be there on a weekday and the Christmas bus will not be running then. We are hoping to avoid driving as we heard parking can be quite hard to find. Are taxis/uber easy to get from the smaller wine villages (Riquewihr, Kaysersberg) ?

Thanks!

Reach out to Arnaud at L'Alsacette. He does group tours, private tours, and transportation like you mention. See what he can offer or suggest. Great guy and terrific resource as a lifelong resident. Learned about him through the forum. Took a wine tour with him in September. It ended being private because the other folks cancelled because the heat was pretty unbearable while we were there, so we had a lot of time to chat with Arnaud as we explored the region with him.

In case you didn't know, there are also regular buses running as part of the FLUO 68 network. These lines serve the main towns in the Colmar region.

  • Line 68R013: Colmar - Le Bonhomme (via Kaysersberg)
  • Line 68R015: Colmar - Labaroche
  • Line 68R016: Colmar - Riquewihr - Ribeauvillé
  • Line 68R026: Colmar - Breisach (Germany)
  • Line 68R030: Colmar - Eguisheim - Rouffach

You don't say where you are staying. As Windyram suggests, Colmar is the practical base for the more famous wine villages.

The Eguisheim bus is not very frequent (maybe it is during the Christmas period?), but it's a quick taxi ride.

Strasbourg and Basel Christmas markets can also be easily reached by train.

Thank you all for the suggestions! Yes, Eguisheim is not the problem as the Christmas bus runs all week from Colmar to Eguisheim. Its to the other villages.

We are staying in Strasbourg as our base.

I will contact Arnaud.
