Aix Les Bains

Anybody been or planning to go? Was wondering if it might merit a night or two or if it should be done as a daytrip from Annecy? Focus would be on photography, easy hikes/walks, architecture, ..... the lake looks interesting as well as the thermal baths, and the museum with Rodin sculptures and impressionist paintings.

Hi,
If you have a car, a day trip is fine, Annecy is only a 30-minute drive away. You would have plenty of time to visit the town, but I would not stay there too long as it is really the lake and surroundings that steal the show: you should drive around it, and perhaps make your way up to La Chambotte (lake overlook) or Mont Revard (higher mountain, further from the lake with broader views).

If you don't have a car, a day trip is feasible but you might find yourself restricted to the town, which is interesting if you like 19th century and early 20th century architecture but less so otherwise.

But, all told, I much prefer Yvoire on lake Geneva (look it up!).
