Aix en Provence: want to train there from Lyons

I may be by myself in Aix for a few days in late september or early october. Suggestions for a decent hotel. I saw one with a lovely garden and outdoor swimming pool. I like to swim for exercise. What are good thing s to see in Aix ND MIGHT LOOK AT A DAY TOUR in the Luberon. Then I plan on training it to Nice to catch up with a fellow traveler. Is it easy to get on a train from Aix to Nice? Thanks, Anne

Yes

It takes between 2.5 and 3 hours from the TGV station just out of town, a couple of direct trains early then with one change in Marseille.

There are big mountains along the route so the train is fairly slow.

The Office of Tourism, aixenprovencetourism.com has some great tours we have been on several times. Where you go depends on what day of the week you're available.
Some great hotels--but none with swimming pools--are Hôtel le Manoir, Hôtel Quatre Dauphins and Hotel Négre Coste. You might have seen Grand Hôtel Roi René which has a pool but I've never stayed there.
