Bonjour,
Traveling in a group/ food tour in April. Staying a week in Aix En Provence. Doing day trips to Luberon, Marseille, Cote du Rhone and Cassis.
Question- what city is good to visit before the tour starts - Arles or? Would have a day and night to visit.
Merci.
Arles is an attractive, walkable city far enough from Aix to give you a different experience, including the Rhone running through it. Roman ruins and museum, a medieval church and cloister, Van Gogh places, a lively market (twice weekly I think). There's bus serice to Aix via Salon-de-Provence, or train service via Marseilles.
Other choices I might make would include Nimes, Avignon, and St-Remy. See what appeals to you and offers an easy-enough transfer to Aix when the time comes.
trutestein,
Where in the Cote de Rhone is your group going? Which towns? Where in the Luberon? Which towns?
