Aix Car Rental Needs

Hello!

First time poster to Rick’s forums…

Any Aix en Provence ’aixperts’😂 here? Planning on staying for a week or so - I know I need a car rental for the neighboring chateaus and vineyards, but I’m wondering how long I could chill in the town of Aix itself before I get restless (don’t want to rent a car for days where I’m doing things in the village center).

I plan on renting a car at the end of my week to drive to Orange, Avignon, and the Chauvet Cave before taking a train from Avignon to Switzerland… trying to figure out the best sequence.

I would say you need a full day in Aix (perhaps a day and a half if you want to visit several museums), and Marseille deserves a day trip too (without a car). So I would start car rental after the 3rd (or 4th) night.
Parking is not scarce in Aix (many garages!), but it is not free.

Do note that many car rental offices are at Aix TGV station. That's about 30 min out of town by frequent bus (or taxi), so not a huge deal, but worth checking!
