In early November once we leave Lyon we'll have a car with Marseille as the end point- there's year-round mountain biking (with rentals) there for my spouse. We might drive down through Grenoble, but we'll have three nights between Lyon & Marseille. I'd prefer to stay in one place for those 3 nights. If so, which city would be the best for day trips and exploring the city? And if not, how would you split it into two cities? On my list is the Pont du Gard, markets, ancient ruins in each and any of the cities, possibly hiking in one of the parks, and getting to a brasserie or two that dot the region.
Thanks in advance!
