We are considering going to Aix. It is not currently on our itinerary, except as included as a possible day trip to Avignon, Lyon and Aix which probably does a bus trip. Or we would be traveling there by train from Nice, with no car of our own. Can we get around on foot?. Is there more to do than shopping? Is it worth the extra time/expense?
It is a good place for walking, eating, going to spas, shopping, and checking out music and art (Paul Cezanne was from here). It is nice place to relax.
I'm always on foot. I spent several days in Aix a few years ago. Three niights are plenty. The center of town is mostly a pedestrian zone. You might find a day trip to Aix to be plenty.
